Propolis Line
Propolis is a resinous, natural substance, that the bees use as a protective shield against germs and natural enemies. The tree and plant resins are the principal component of the Propolis that mostly contains carboxylic and organic acids, as well as essential oils and minerals.
The bees process the resins by adding saliva, wax and pollen into a viscous, thick paste which has antibacterial and antiviral characteristics. Afterwards, the paste will be used to seal openings and cracks in the beehive or to sanitize affected, contaminated areas from intruders like insects or mice. In many regions, especially Southeast Asia, the propolis is used for its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and anticancer effects. Depending on the local flora the propolis comprises of different colors, consistencies, and characteristics.
The origin
1. Some bees specialize in collecting resins instead of nextar and pollen.
2. Bees enrich the resins with saliva and enzymes during collections.
3. Propolis transport home and hand over to the colleagues in the beehive.
4. Adding wax, pollen and organic compounds.
5. Maximum production per hiver per year: around 1000 gr
