Honey Blossom
Honey is rich in vitamins, minerals, acids and amino acids. It stimulates brain activity, memory and is a great energetic. It also has immunological, antibacterial, regenerative, analgesic, sedative, and expectorant effects.
The Apiário Flor de Mel differs by manufacturing not only flowering natives of southern Minas Gerais, but also by marketing specific blooms from other regions of the country.
Wildflower
Brazilian multi flower honey is a wildflower honey which has, depending on the harvest season and region, different flavor characteristics. It is usually a very harmonic, aromatic, and lovely balanced taste with a color range from extra light amber to amber. Our Brazilian wildflower honey comes from the hilly country sides of Minas Gerais and São Paulo with its small population and broad natural vegetation.
Orange Blossom
Brazilian orange blossom honey is a very fine and noble honey with a subtle, unique citrus note. It is considered the softest and most pleasant honey of Brazil with a light texture and coloration. The bees produce this magnificent honey in the state of São Paulo and Minas Gerais where the orange trees are blossoming around September to December.
Eucalyptus Blossom
Brazilian eucalyptus blossom honey is a strong, often darker, herbal, full bodied honey with a slight caramel-like characteristic and a clear eucalyptus note. Due to a higher concentration of glucose, this honey tends to crystallize earlier than others. The impressive, tall Eucalyptus trees are growing in every state in the south of Brazil providing the bees with pollen and nectar nearly all year long. The harvest season starts usually in April and ends in June.
Coffee Blossom
Another Brazilian specialty is the Coffee Honey with its intensively aromatic, fine taste. Although “Coffea Arabica” are self-pollinating plants, the bees do support the process and quality on the coffee plantations. As a positive side effect, we can harvest this light amber to amber colored honey in the month of November when the coffee plantations are covered in white flowers. As not too many coffee farmers and beekeepers are yet collaborating, the coffee honey is another rare delicacy of Brazil. Luckily, our company is located in the middle of a coffee farming region in the South of Minas Gerais, where we work closely together with the local beekeeper.
Cipo-Uva Blossom
The Cipó-Uva plant blossoms in the dry season of the year, usually around September to November in the regions North-East, Central-East, and South-East of Brazil. It is a high climbing plant which grows in the tropical savanna region as well as in subtropical humid conditions. It is known and used throughout the local population for its medicinal detoxing benefits. The main characteristic of the the Cipó-Uva honey is the light amber color, the sweet and fruity taste as well as the floral, intense scent. Due to its unique characteristic in minerals and higher ratio of fructose, it is very hard to crystalize in ambient conditions.
Pink Pepper Blossom
The Aroeira tree is better known as the rose pepper tree and grows in the subtropical savanna region called “Cerrado”. The “Cerrado” spans over several states of Brazil, mostly Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás and especially Minas Gerais where our main partners are located. The harvest period traditionally takes place in the months of April until early September. The Aroeira honey is an amber to dark amber floral taste honey with a medium, smooth consistency. The vast region with its little population and very small livestock agriculture, makes these honeys a true natural experience.
COLOR CHART
Brazilian Bracatinga honeydew honey is a peculiar honey, probably the most special honey of South America. The honeydew is produced by little sap-sucking insects which creates a thick, sweet liquid which the bees then take to their combs to produce their so-called „Melato”.
It has a dark red, brownish, dark amber color with a long lasting and full-bodied aromatic aftertaste. This honey can only be harvested each two years as the insects only appear every other year. That is why this honey is such a delicacy and often the availability is lowered.
